The SIT said that the 21 Para Special Forces soldiers did not follow the SOP during the firing, so 14 people sitting in the truck were killed.

Due to this, the security forces had deposited a front near Oting village on 4 December 2021. Meanwhile, a truck came on the Tiru-Oting road. When the truck did not stop, the security forces opened fire due to the possibility of a militant in it, in which 14 people were killed.

All the 14 people killed in the incident were labourers, who were on their way home after work in a truck. When he did not reach home till late night, the villagers started looking for him and then they came to know about the incident. Angry villagers torched vehicles of security forces. The soldiers had to struggle a lot in controlling the angry mob.

Nagaland is one of the states where the AFSPA law is in force. Under this law, legal action cannot be taken against the security forces without the approval of the Centre. Therefore, the state government has demanded action against the jawans from the Center. At the same time, the police has also sent a letter to the Ministry of Defense and talked about taking action.
