Workers trapped in 300 feet deep mine in Tamil Nadu: 6 laborers trapped after falling big stone, helicopter was called for rescue

Six laborers were trapped in a 300 feet deep mine in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu on Saturday night. However, two people were safely pulled out of the mine. But four people are still trapped there. According to the police officer- Munir fell into a boulder mine in Pallam area. After this the truck of the laborers got stuck in the middle.

Rescue being done by helicopter

South Range IG Asra Garg said – We had initially received news of 6 laborers being trapped. So far, the fire brigade team has saved two people safely. He further said that for the rescue, the help of heavy duty cranes with long arms and specially the people who are skilled in walking on the mountains are being taken.

IG Asra Garg says, looking at the structure of the mine, it is clear that it may take some time to rescue all the workers. Also, we cannot say with certainty right now that there are only four people in mine or more.

According to reports, the fire brigade team reached the spot immediately after receiving the news of the workers being trapped. But in the morning the fourth battalion of NDRF reached the spot, which includes 30 jawans. The rescue operation of NDRF is on since morning.
