Virat Kohli praised the Indian women’s cricket team for their brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup 2023 by defeating Pakistan

former indian captain Virat Kohli Came up with a heartfelt tweet for the Indian women’s cricket team as Harmanpreet Kaur’s men begin their T20I with a 7-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan World Cup 2023 campaign on a winning note.

Jemimah Rodrigues hit a half-century while Richa Ghosh also added the finishing touch with her unbeaten 31 as the pair helped India Chased down the required target of 150 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof scored a half-century of his own while Ayesha Naseem also played a brilliant knock of 43*, helping the total to 149/4 after Maroof won the toss and elected to bat.

In reply, Harmanpreet and co chased down the required total with six balls to spare as they began their T20 World Cup 2023 campaign with a morale-boosting win.

Meanwhile, Kohli was all praise for the Indian team and said that the win over Pakistan will have an impact on all the young girls watching at home.

The 34-year-old posted a picture of the Indian women’s team on social media and penned a heart-warming caption, lauding their efforts in taking the women’s game to new heights in the country.

Virat wrote, ‘What a win our women’s team achieved against Pakistan in a very pressured match and chasing the target with difficulty.

She further added, “The women’s team is making such huge leaps and bounds with every tournament we play and it is going to inspire a whole generation of girls to take up the game and take women’s cricket higher and higher. More power to all of you. God bless.”

Coming to the match, Pakistan lost some of their batsmen early but Maroof and Ayesha’s knocks propelled their team to a fightable total as they cleaned up the Indian bowlers.

Radha Yadav managed to pick up a couple of wickets, while Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma also picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma started well, adding 38 runs for the opening wicket before Bhatia departed. Harmanpreet herself could only manage 16 runs, but Jemimah led her side while Ghosh also produced some big hits to register a memorable win.

In their next match in the World Cup, the Indian women’s cricket team is going to take on the West Indies on Wednesday, February 15.
