Women’s rights activist Kamala Bhasin dies of cancer at the age of 75

Women’s rights activist Kamala Bhasin passed away on 25 September 2021 in the national capital. He died due to cancer. The news of his death was shared by activist Kavita Srivastava.

Srivastava took to Twitter and wrote: “Our dear friend Kamala Bhasin passed away today at around 3 am on 25th September. This is a big blow to the women’s movement in India and the South Asian region. She lived life even in adversity. Celebrated. Kamala you will always be in our hearts. In the sisterhood, who is in deep sorrow”

Bhasin is mostly known for her work for women’s rights. She wrote about women in the history of Partition, she was referred to as the evolutionist in her ideology (feminism). He worked with the underprivileged, marginalized people to find a source to stay away from non-literary works. She was also associated with the struggle for environmental protection.

She is better known for ‘Sangat – A Feminist Network’ and her poetry.Kyunki main ladki hoon, mujhe padhna hai’ – A Hindi poem translated as ‘I am a girl, thus, I want to study’

Kamla Bhasin worked for the upliftment of women and the poor throughout her life.
