Women have ownership rights of 2 crore houses under PM Awas Yojana: Modi in Grih Pravesh

new Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched ‘Griha Pravesh’ of about 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing. The ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony began at 12:30 pm.

The Prime Minister said that women also have ownership rights in about two crore houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. “This right has strengthened the participation of women in making other financial decisions in the household. It is a case study in big universities across the world,” the Prime Minister said.

Modi also said that some political parties raised a lot of slogans to end poverty but did not do enough to empower the poor. “I believe that when the poor are empowered, it gives them the courage to fight poverty. When the efforts of an honest government come with an empowered poor, poverty is defeated,” news agency ANI quoted Modi as saying.

Modi said the Nal-Jal scheme has provided six crore families with tap connections of pure water in their homes, news agency PTI reported.

The Prime Minister further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has given about 2.5 crore houses to the poor and that The previous government – before the BJP government – built only a few lakh houses for the poor during its tenure. “Our government has given around 2.5 crore houses to the poor. Of these, two crore houses are built in villages. In the last two years, despite the constraints due to Covid-19, the work has not slowed down,” he said.

The Prime Minister said, “Whether there is a BJP government at the Center or a BJP government in the states running on the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, all of them are working to empower the poor.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also present on this occasion.

A day before the program, the Prime Minister tweeted about the program and said that it is going to be a new dawn for the people of Madhya Pradesh.

“A new dawn is about to dawn in the lives of my rural brothers and sisters of Madhya Pradesh. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, there will be ‘Griha Pravesh’ for about 5.21 lakh families tomorrow. I will have an opportunity to attend it through video conferencing at 12.30 pm,” Modi wrote.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said, “It has been the constant endeavor of the Prime Minister to provide a pucca house with all basic amenities to every needy family of the country and this is another step in this direction.”

On this occasion, a traditional ceremony of conch shell, lamp, flowers and rangoli was organized in newly constructed houses in Madhya Pradesh.

PMAY-G, which has been implemented with several unique and innovative initiatives like training thousands of masons including women masons to use fly ash bricks in Madhya Pradesh, has empowered Self Help Groups (SHGs) of women for focused material. Worked on empowering them by providing loans. and using technology for better execution and monitoring of projects.

According to a PTI report, 24.10 lakh houses have been built under the PMAY-G scheme in Madhya Pradesh.

Out of these, 23,000 houses are for the people of Baiga, Sahariya and Bharia tribal communities.
