VADODARA: Women from families rearing cattle created ruckus when the cattle party of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) went to impound the animals roaming on the roads in the Ajwa Road area of the city.
The VMC has been aggressively impounding cattle from city roads following the death of a man in an accident involving a bovine last week. It had also sealed three shades used to keep cattle in the Gotri and Subhanpura. Sources said that the incident took place late on Wednesday afternoon and an offence was registered at the Bapod police station late in the evening. Videos of the incident were widely circulated in the city on Thursday.
The offence registered at the Bapod police station alleges that 3-4 women objected to their cow being impounded. They entered into a ruckus with the members of the cattle party which included VMC and city police personnel as well as workers.
The complaint states that one of the women was armed with a sickle while another was carrying a stick. They used abusive language toward the members of the cattle party and freed the cow forcefully.
VMC’s director of security and encroachment Dr Mangesh Jaiswal said that they have prepared a list of habitual offenders involved in such incidents.
Earlier on May 10, 18-year-old Henil Patel lost an eye when the horn of a cow pierced his eye on the Waghodiya-Dabhoi Ring Road. On May 22, Hiren Parmar, a tattoo artist, was injured in an accident involving a bovine when he was commuting on the Jetalpur Road. The incident had taken place around two weeks ahead of his wedding and left his face badly injured.
