Varanasi: Rubi Sahani (38), who had taken shelter in a temporary flood relief camp in Gangabagh Colony under the limits of Lanka police station died of electrocution while setting a pedestal fan on Sunday.
District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the matter had come to his knowledge and all possible help would be ensured to the woman’s family. Officials said that this temporary camp had been arranged by locals around 100 meters away from the flood relief camp of the district administration.
Rubi had started dwelling in a room on rent with her three children after death of her husband Kallu in 2021. She worked as domestic help to feed her children.
With the rise in water level of the Ganga flood water accumulated in her room on August 26 after which she had reached this relief camp. On Sunday afternoon, she was trying to set the pedestal fan when she got electrocuted. Police sent the body for postmortem examination. tnn
