Udupi: A woman sustained injuries after she was hit with an iron rod, after which her gold ornaments were robbed in Kundapur on Friday. According to police, the incident took place when Devaki,35, had gone to pick up her son from school. When she was waiting for the bus to arrive, a person came from behind and hit her with an iron rod, and attempted to rob her karyamani chain. He hit her with the iron rod for a second time, and then robbed her of the karyamani chain, ring and bangle. She was immediately rushed to a hospital. The estimated value of the stolen item is about Rs 1.6 lakh. A case has been registered at the Kundapur Rural police station.
