Woman arrested for murder of 3-month-old grandson Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Rural police on Thursday arrested a 45-year-old woman for killing her three-month-old grandson and injuring her three-month-old granddaughter at Nagappa Nagar in Kavundampalayam here.
The arrested woman has been identified as Shanti, wife of a special sub-inspector of Madurai district.
“His 24-year-old daughter Aishwarya had left for a medical shop on Thursday, leaving behind the twins, Shanti, who were suffering from depression. He killed his grandson Aryan and attempted to murder his granddaughter B Arika Shree. Aishwarya took the children to a private hospital, where the boy was declared brought dead. The girl’s condition is stable. Meanwhile, Shanti fled. She mortgaged her gold ear studs in a pawn shop and managed to reach her home in Madurai district,” said a police officer.
Shanti was arrested from her house on Sunday and brought back to Thudiyalur police station. He was booked under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
