Woman, 28, Sexually Harassed By Father-in-law | Agra News – Times of India

AGRA: UP Police on Saturday booked a 62-year-old man for sexually harassing his 28-year-old daughter-in-law in Aligarh district. Her husband, 30, and sister-in-law have been named in the FIR. The FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint filed by the woman.
She mentioned in her complaint that her husband “never had sexual intercourse with her after their marriage on July 3, 2022”. Having “doubts” about him, the woman raised the matter with her sister-in-law.
She claimed that her father-in-law came to know about the matter, and on August 31, her husband told her that his father wanted to meet her in his room. The woman alleged that she was stripped half naked in the room and was sexually harassed by the accused, who also tried to rape her. Hearing her screams, neighbours came to help and saved her. The FIR mentioned that the woman’s family had spent Rs 12 lakh on her marriage. Her in-laws started demanding an additional dowry of Rs 5 lakh.
Delhi gate police SHO Nityanand Pandey said, “On the basis of the complaint received, an FIR has been registered against the woman’s father-in-law under IPC section 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 354-A (sexual harassment), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. The husband and sister-in-law of the woman are also named as the accused in the FIR. The entire matter is being investigated in detail.” No arrests have been made yet.
