Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and North Rajasthan recorded minimum temperatures ranging between 3-7 degrees Celsius.

cold wave has engulfed the north India Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The mercury in the Ridge region dropped by 3 degrees Celsius, 4.9 degrees Celsius below normal, making it the coldest place in the capital.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that dense/very dense fog conditions are likely to form over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan from December 27.

In view of the cold wave conditions, schools in Patna will remain closed for students up to class VIII from December 26 to December 31.

Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and North Rajasthan recorded minimum temperatures between 3-7 degrees Celsius.

Here are five top points on cold wave conditions across North India:

  • During the last 24 hours, very dense fog was observed over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Northwest Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, East and West Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
  • The IMD has warned that dense to very dense fog would occur over parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. But the intensity will gradually subside and thereafter dissipate due to likely depletion of moisture in the lower tropospheric levels over the region.
  • Cold wave/severe cold wave conditions very likely over parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, North Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours.
  • A drop in maximum and minimum temperatures has been predicted in the city with dense fog and cold on Monday morning, with the IMD issuing an ‘Orange’ alert. IANS Reported.
  • Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.8 on Sunday, which was the coldest night of the season so far. “With minus 5.8 as the minimum temperature today, Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season so far. Cold, dry weather with mainly clear sky is expected over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh during next 24 hours.”
