Wimbledon 2021 | Full crowd allowed from quarterfinal to final

Crowds at Wimbledon’s Center Court and No. 1 Court can grow to 100% capacity for the singles quarter-finals by the end of the tournament.

The All England Club said on Sunday that last year would mark “the first full outdoor stadium at a sporting event” in Britain since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Wimbledon 2020 was canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the oldest Grand Slam tennis tournament not held for the first time in 75 years.

The club said the increase from being limited to a 50% full crowd in the two main arenas comes after a “successful staging of the first week of the championship” and government approval.

After Monday’s fourth-round matches, the quarter-finals are scheduled to begin on Tuesday for women, with Wednesday for men. The semi-finals will take place next Saturday with the women’s final and the men’s on 11 July.

Before the tournament began, the club stated that it would only be able to allow full crowds for the two singles finals.

Center Court can hold 14,979 people, and Number 1 Court has a capacity of 12,345. The club stated that the number of fans allowed around the rest of the site “will be reduced in accordance with the number of courts in play”.

Spectators are still required to show proof of their COVID-19 status upon arrival at the tournament each day – either that they have passed a test within the past 48 hours or have been fully vaccinated.
