Wilson of the Jets injured his knee; right after a visit to mahomes tents

The New York Jets’ already disappointing season took a more ominous turn when rookie quarterback Zack Wilson suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots.

Wilson said that when Patriots linebacker Matt Juden fell on the back of his feet at the start of the second quarter, he felt a pop and a twist in his knee. The second overall draft pick eventually went off the field after several minutes of checking on the turf.

Wilson said the initial diagnosis was an injury to his posterior cruciate ligament, and he was to have an MRI on Monday.

You feel good in the beginning. But you never know, said Jets coach Robert Saleh.

Also for the Jets, linebacker Jamian Sherwood was assessed for an injury, returned to the game, then left with a calf injury. Another linebacker, Quincy Williams, did not return after being checked for possible injury.

Veteran Patriots safety Devin McCourty walked away with an injury to the abdomen. The Patriots also lost defensive lineman Carl Davis (wrist), tight end Joanu Smith (shoulder), linebacker Harvey Longhi (knee) and right guard Shaq Mason (abdomen).

Chief quarterback Patrick Mahomes was assessed as late in Kansas City’s 27–3 loss to Tennessee. He knelt on his head on a sack by Denico Autry but said he was fine after the game.

Kansas City defensive end Chris Jones strained a groin, and safety Tyron Matthews hurt his ribs.

The depth of the Titans’ offensive line was tested when left tackle Kendall Lam injured an ankle in the first half in place of injured Taylor Levan. He was replaced by Bobby Hart, who was signed Wednesday from the Buffalos practice squad.

In Atlanta’s 30–28 win over Miami, Falcons safety Eric Harris moved into the fourth quarter. For the Dolphins, linebacker Jerome Baker (knee), trailing Malcolm Brown (quad) and safety Jason McCourty (leg) left the game.

Guard John Miller left the Panthers losing to the New York Giants with an ankle injury, and Giants safety Jabril Peppers hurt his right ankle on a third-quarter punt return.

The Ravens’ less offensive line was dealt another blow when right tackle Patrick Macari left Baltimore’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury.
