New Delhi: Former Minority Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday (July 7) said that he will continue to work for the saffron party to ensure its acceptability among all sections of the society. In an interview with news agency PTI, Naqvi said that his term as an MP is over, but his political and social journey will continue. “There are many other things ahead of the stars, abhi waqt ke imtihan aur bhi hai (there are still many challenges in life). The way I am working with full commitment for the welfare of the society, I will continue to do so. Receiving a responsibility is not as important as feeling responsible and aware of the responsibility on one’s shoulders,” the former Union minister said a day after his resignation.
Naqvi, whose term in the Rajya Sabha ended today, said he would continue to work for the welfare of the weaker sections of the society.
“I will continue to work for the party and as a party worker, I will do whatever is possible to ensure that the party is accepted by all sections of the society,” he told the news agency.
with Naqvi, JD(U)’s RCP Singh had also tendered their resignations. PM Modi on Wednesday. According to PTI sources, during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Modi had praised Naqvi and Singh for their contribution to the country during their tenure.
Meanwhile, Naqvi extended his best wishes to Union Minister Smriti Irani who took over the additional charge of the Ministry of Minority Affairs today. The former Minority Affairs Minister tweeted, “Your energetic and dynamic leadership will further strengthen Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji’s commitment to ‘Development with dignity’ of all sections.”
