Will the leadership of Himachal Pradesh change after the defeat of BJP in the by-elections? CM Jayaram replied

New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday spoke about the recent setback to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the bypolls and whether there will be a change of leadership in the state.

Speaking to news agency ANI, CM Jairam Thakur said: “There is no doubt that the election results in the state were not as expected. There was a slight difference in the number of votes. If we look at the results of Mandi elections, this is the shortest difference ever. Many things are coming out where we were lacking but we are in no hurry.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP suffered a setback as the Congress won three assembly seats in the by-elections on October 30. The Congress also won the Mandi parliamentary constituency.

Talking about the BJP’s action plan in the wake of the defeat, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said: “We will review it. Based on the feedback we get, a plan will be made. There’s still some time for 2022”

“Victory and defeat happen even when there is a government. It had happened before. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that BJP comes back to power in the state in 2022,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Asked whether Himachal Pradesh will witness a cabinet reshuffle or change in leadership after the results of the bypolls, Jai Ram Thakur replied: “I don’t want to say much on this. The decision of the central leadership will be accepted by all. So far I have not received any such signal from their side.”

He further said that he would give them a report to the central leadership and discuss the situation with them.

“The party will decide its next course after review,” he said.

In the recently announced bypoll results, where BJP contested in Assam, Trinamool Congress won in West Bengal and Congress got lead in Himachal Pradesh.
