‘Will Take A Dip In Yamuna Before 2025 Delhi Elections’: Arvind Kejriwal Sets Deadline For Cleaning Yamuna

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said he would take a dip in the Yamuna to demonstrate its cleanliness ahead of the 2025 assembly elections. Responding to a question on the timeline for cleaning the Yamuna river, Kejriwal said, “A 6-point action plan has been made for cleaning the Yamuna… Before the next elections in 2025, I will take a dip in the Yamuna with you.” The Aam Aadmi Party chief addressed a press conference after presenting the Budget for Delhi 2023-24. He also spoke about the various schemes announced in the budget to realize the dream of a clean, beautiful and modern Delhi.

Talking about Delhi’s three infamous garbage mountains, Kejriwal said that his government would clean up the three landfills by December 2024.

Earlier today, while presenting the budget, Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot said that a loan of Rs 850 crore has been given to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to remove mountains of garbage.

“Delhi’s three garbage mountains have been a black spot in Delhi’s image for many decades. Though the task of cleaning these garbage mountains comes under the jurisdiction of the MCD, we will lend a hand for the people of Delhi.” “Join hands with the MCD and provide them all possible help to ensure that we see the mountains of garbage coming to an end at the earliest,” Gehlot said.

“1600 new electric buses will be procured this year. We aim to have a total of 10,480 buses on Delhi roads by 2025. This will be sufficient for Delhi’s requirements. By 2025, 80% of these buses – 8,280 will be electric. Of these, 1600 buses will be Will buy this year.

He said in the press conference that his government is providing free education, water, electricity and health services to the citizens but there was never any harm and assured that all the free schemes of the Delhi government will continue.

Kejriwal also said that the Budget for 2023-24 has something for everyone and asserted that it will give a big push to infrastructure by allocating Rs 21,000 crore for various projects.
