Will She, Will Not She: Sasikala Says Coming Soon To Set Party On ‘Right Track’. Is AIADMK ready for the challenge?

Fueling the political fire of Tamil Nadu, VK Sasikala – Jayalalithaa’s former aide – is all set to make a political comeback as she declared that she cannot “tolerate” the collapse of her party AIADMK.

In a public statement, Sasikala said: “Coming soon, to put the party on the right track. I can no longer tolerate the collapse of the party. Everyone has to be taken along party style, let’s unite”, once again there has been a stir among those spreading rumors of change in state politics.

Sasikala had parted ways with AIADMK years ago. After announcing that she would stay away from politics ahead of the April 6 assembly polls, Sasikala said she could not see the party being ruined because of “insiders”.

His reference to the feud, which makes no direct mention of the AIADMK or its leadership, is seen as a sign of alleged differences between the top two leaders, Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam.

According to a report in PTI, a confidant of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Sasikala’s brief phone conversations with two of her loyalists have surfaced and indicated her reconsideration.

In the first audio clip, he can be heard saying, “We will definitely streamline the party… through the hard work of leaders including him and “seeing them fighting”, it was sad to see him doomed to the cause of the party. Couldn’t be a mute spectator to be there.

Hence, Sasikala said that she will come soon and meet supporters after the second wave of coronavirus fades. The party can be put back in good shape and there is no need to worry. She said that a good decision will be taken soon and she will come soon.

This is being seen as a sign of resumption of efforts to regain control of the AIADMK after being jailed in February 2017 after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case that he and his nephew Dhinakaran did. lost years ago.

In March this year, Sasikala had said that “she would stay away from politics,” but prayed for Jayalalithaa’s “golden rule”.

Sasikala became AIADMK’s interim general secretary after Jayalalithaa’s death in 2016 and a general council meeting in 2017 revoked the appointment and declared all appointments made by Dinakaran invalid.

This meeting also created new positions of coordinator and coordinator for the Ops and EPS respectively, bringing them all powers and their factions together, while Sasikala and her followers were removed. Since then, the AIADMK has made it clear that there is no room for rapprochement with Sasikala or her relatives.

After all, Dinakaran founded the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) in 2018 and has often said that the recovery of the AIADMK was the goal of his organisation.

Her lawyer told PTI that a case by Sasikala challenging the 2017 AIADMK General Council resolutions, including removing her as interim general secretary, is pending in a civil court in the city and the matter is for further hearing on June 18. has been posted. Dinakaran, who was earlier also a petitioner, later withdrew as he was heading the AMMK.

After completing her four-year jail term in Bengaluru, Sasikala, who had a real clout in the AIADMK during Jayalalithaa’s days, returned to Tamil Nadu on February 8, 2021.

Upon her return, she had indicated that she would engage in active politics, but later announced her decision to stay away. Two audio clips shown in the bulletin of Jaya Plus Tamil television channel, among other channels, were seen as Sasikala’s supporters.
