Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Porto FC talent Francisco Conceicao this summer. The London giants are monitoring the young winger and could potentially make a move for the Portugal international in the ongoing transfer window, as per Record. Chelsea are nearing the completion of Renato Veiga’s signing from FC Basel this week for €14 million but are, understandably, still on the lookout for a striker and winger in the market. Amid their search, the Portuguese outlet has claimed that the Blues could offer the €30 million Porto are currently looking for by next Monday. After the said date, Conceicao’s buyout clause would increase by fifty per cent to €45 million.
The short deadline means the current week will carry a lot of significance as several clubs pay attention to the Conceicao situation. Many would be looking to take advantage of the situation as they try to divert the youngster away from Portugal. The same report also claimed that Porto FC President Andre Villas-Boas is not considering letting the young talent go so easily. Villas-Boas does not intend to facilitate the 21-year-old’s departure until July 15. Having put himself in an advantageous position, the club President could demand the immediate payment of the €30 million if a concrete approach is made.
If no deal is reached by Monday, Villas-Boas will likely discuss a new contract with the club. After Conceicao’s international break, Villas-Boas would attempt to explain his plans and the new reality of Porto FC. Conceicao is well aware of his club president’s desire and it remains to be seen what decision the youngster makes. Should the winger decide to stay, he will join Porto FC’s training camp in Austria next week. Conceicao recently represented Portugal at the Euro 2024 and is now on vacation after his team’s exit from the quarter-finals.
Signing Conceicao will be far from an easy task for Chelsea. The Blues currently face direct competition from European powerhouses like Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig. The summer transfer window has proven to be quite busy for Chelsea with the Londoners making some star signings. They have already secured the services of Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
