Mumbai: With the first WiFi facility Mumbai Central In 2016, Western Railway (WR) has come a long way in providing WiFi internet facilities at 468 stations including 90 stations in Mumbai Division.
WR’s Chief Spokesperson Sumit Thakur “The number of users of these stations using WiFi facilities is increasing continuously and we are planning to set up such facilities at more stations for the passengers,” it said.
He further added, “This project has been taken up with the mission to transform stations into centers of digital inclusion. RailTel has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing this remarkable Digital India initiative, which provides state-of-the-art public WiFi under the brand name of RailWire. railtel So far this facility has been started at 6,070 stations across India.
Apart from 90 stations in Mumbai Division, WiFi network has been strengthened at 72 stations, 98 stations in Vadodara Division. Ratlam There are 88 stations in Ahmedabad division, 50 stations in Rajkot division and 70 stations in Bhavnagar division.
Thakur said, “As part of Digital India, Western Railway has introduced technology oriented passenger applications/features like National Train Inquiry System and passenger reservation system, which has improved the passenger travel experience. And now WiFi is another such commuter-friendly facility.”
