World Thinking Day gives women and girls a great platform and opportunity to voice their opinion, debate on topics related to them and provide solutions on a global scale.

World Thinking Day 2023: The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) celebrates World Thinking Day every year on 22 February. The day honors sisterhood, sisterhood and women’s empowerment while striving to raise funds for the 10 million Girl Scouts and Guides in over 150 countries. World Thinking Day also encourages Girl Scouts to build lasting relationships with each other that emphasize loyalty and respect.

Young girls have the opportunity to advocate for causes that matter to them and take their message across the globe. Raising money for the advancement of young girls around the world is one of the most important things Girl Scouts and Girl Guides accomplish.

World Thinking Day: History

The need for a World Scout Day was raised in 1926 at the 4th Girl Scout International Conference. In the conference, it was agreed to dedicate February 22 as Chintan Diwas. Lord Baden-Powell, who founded the Boy Scouts of America, and his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell, who served as the organization’s first Global Chief Guide, were both born on February 22.

Six years later, in 1932, during the 7th World Conference in Buchs, Poland, delegates highlighted that gifts were usually given on birthdays, thus the girls expressed their gratitude by donating gifts to the International Movement on Ideas Day. Can

This fundraising component remains a significant source of income for WAGGGS to this day. Thinking Day was renamed World Thinking Day in 1999 by participants from around the world during the 30th World Conference in Dublin, Ireland.
