The Supreme Court on Friday asked Nupur Sharma why she filed the petition under a misleading name. Former BJP spokesperson had filed the petition in the name of NV Sharma.

The Supreme Court bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala on Friday made some scathing remarks against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
The bench raised questions on the probe and asked why Nupur Sharma has not been arrested yet for her comments made on national television. The court also termed his apology as insufficient and said that he should have appeared on TV and instead apologized to the country.
However, one of the first questions raised by the bench was why the petition was filed by Nupur Sharma under the “misleading name”.

The petition filed by Nupur Sharma has sought transfer of the FIR against him to Delhi, which has been filed in the name of NV Sharma. The order passed by the Supreme Court in the case also mentions the name NV Sharma, as this was the name under which the case was listed.
Before Nupur Sharma’s counsel had a chance to begin the arguments, the first question raised by Justice Surya Kant, who was presiding over the bench, was: Why is he here under a misleading name?
Her counsel, Senior Advocate Maninder Singh, explained to the court that Nupur Sharma was facing several threats, due to which she was forced to file a petition as NV Sharma.
Soon after, the Supreme Court asked, “She is in danger or has she become a security threat?” This was followed by a flurry of serious, scathing remarks against Sharma and his conduct.
NV Sharma possibly stands for Nupur Vinay Sharma, Vinay Sharma being his father’s name. The petition has been dismissed by the Supreme Court and they have been asked to approach the High Courts of the states where the FIR has been lodged for relief.
