The gang war between Jitendra Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria gang is a decades-old rivalry, which started around 2010 during the Delhi University student elections.

Rohini Court Shooting: Delhi’s most wanted gangster Jitendra Mann alias Gogi was shot dead by his opponents in the Rohini court premises on Friday. It is believed that the attackers belonged to his rival Tillu Tajpuria gang. The gangster used to run the infamous ‘Jitendra Gogi Gang’ which was involved in dozens of cases related to murder and extortion in Delhi.

According to the police, Gogi and Sunil Tajpuria alias Tillu have been running an extortion racket in Alipore and Sonepat for years and the constant tussle between the two gangs led to bloodshed.

Gogi and his associates were involved in crimes like murder, attempt to murder, extortion, illegal weapon possession, carjacking and land grabbing. According to reports, there were more than 50 people in Jitendra Gogi’s network.

A meritorious student and Delhi University topper:

Jitendra and his colleague Kuldeep Faza were toppers in Delhi University. According to a report, the gang war between Gogi and Tillu gang is a decades-old rivalry, which started around 2010 during the Delhi University student elections.

Gogi, a student of Swami Shraddhanand College, did not take pity on Sunil Tajpuria alias Tillu and his associates beating Gogi’s friend who contested the college election. However, after the gang-war, Gogi’s friend withdrew from the election but that incident gave rise to gang rivalry.

Jitendra Gogi’s ruckus with the police:

Gogi was earlier arrested along with members of the same gang in several cases. In 2016, Gogi was arrested by the Panipat police, but he managed to escape from custody within three months while being taken to court. At this time, he had a bounty of ₹4 lakh on his head.

Later in 2017, Gogi killed popular Haryana folk singer Harshita Dahiya, who was a key witness in a murder case registered against her close aide Dinesh Karala. Aam Aadmi Party leader Virendra Mann was also shot dead allegedly by members of the Gogi gang in Narela.

In 2018, Gogi came into limelight when he entered a gang with his rival Tillu gang in Delhi’s Burari, killing three people and injuring five. Gangster Virendra Mann was shot dead by Gogi and his accomplices on a busy road.

In 2020, Gogi was arrested along with three of his associates by the Counter Intelligence Unit of Delhi Police in March. Gogi and his associates- identified as Kuldeep Mann alias Fazza, Rohit Moi and Kapil were arrested from Gurugram.

A huge quantity of cartridges and weapons were recovered during the arrest of Gogi. A reward of Rs 4 lakh was announced in Delhi and Rs 2 lakh in Haryana for giving information about Gogi alone.

Faza escaped from custody while being produced before the Karkardooma Court. Gangster Kuldeep Fazza was killed during an encounter in March. He was brought to the hospital for treatment when around 10 armed assailants attacked and overpowered the policemen.

A police officer told PTI that since that incident, the Special Cell’s defense team along with Gogi and his associates used to go to the court for hearing.

Gogi was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). He was found working independently behind bars.

The MCOCA FIR states that all his earnings were spent on buying arms and SUVs, which were used to commit more crimes. The MCOCA resolution details dozens of cases of extortion, dacoity, carjacking and dacoity, besides 19 counts of murder and attempt to murder.
