From managing various clubs in Spain, to his history in India, take a look at all you need to know about the new Indian Men’s Football Head Coach, Manolo Marquez.
Manolo Marquez is a Spanish football manager who hails from the city of Barcelona and has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian football team. Interestingly he will hold a dual role as he will also be the manager of FC Goa for the 2024-2025 season as well in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The 55-year-old Spaniard has been in and around the Spanish football scene with a wide range of experience within the region of Catalonia and the Canary Islands within Spain. Some of the more popular clubs he has managed include Las Palmas, the Espanyol B team and many more. He then moved towards Croatia following which he made the move towards Asia with a brief stint in Thailand as the manager.

His career in India began with Hyderabad FC where he coached the club for three years. He was able to take the club to the very top by winning the club’s maiden title in March 2022 after beating the Kerala Blasters on penalties.
After mutually parting ways with the club, Marquez made the switch to FC Goa. He was able to help the side make an outstanding start with a 12-match unbeaten run but the side eventually crumbled to third in the league table.
He will now hope to see his final season with the club off on a high as he will take up the international job permanently from the next season. Fans will hope that he can bring in his Catalonian flair and his understanding of Indian football to help bring the national team to even bigger heights.
His knack of bringing in a refreshing touch at least on the club level will be expected in the national team as they hope to begin their international campaign next year on a high and possibly end it on an even bigger high.
