Ayesha Mukherjee on Tuesday announced her divorce from Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. After living with each other for about eight years, the two parted ways.
Shikhar and Ayesha have a 7 year old son Zoravar.
Ayesha made the announcement through her Instagram account, in which she wrote a long post about how it feels to get divorced twice. Elaborating on her feelings, Ayesha said, “I thought divorce was a dirty word until I became divorced twice.
Further in the post, she says that anyone can give their own meaning to the word.
Ayesha has summarized her interpretation of ‘divorce’ which means that it means choosing one’s self and settling down one’s life for marriage and not sacrificing it.
“Divorce means that even if you try and do your best sometimes it doesn’t work out and that’s okay and it also means that I had wonderful relationships that helped me move on to new relationships.” Lesson taught.”
Through the post, she also reached out to those who were struggling to deal with the isolation and even offered to help.
Earlier, Melbourne-based Ayesha was married to an Australian businessman and they have two daughters. In 2000, the couple welcomed their first child and named him Aaliyah. Later, in 2005, he was blessed with another daughter- Rhea. The reasons for her earlier divorce are not known.
Not many people know that Ayesha’s first meeting with Dhawan was through Facebook. The link between the two was Dhawan’s former partner Harbhajan Singh, who was a common friend of the couple. After dating for sometime, she got engaged to Dhawan in 2009 and later the couple got married in 2012. During the nationwide lockdown, several funny Instagram reels were shared by Dhawan, with the chemistry between the two looking adorable.
Ayesha is a former kickboxer and has earned fame after playing at both national and international levels.
