Sitharaman also sought to know why Gandhi did not raise her voice against the ‘undue benefit’ being given to Adani by the Kerala government and a solar power project to the company in Rajasthan.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lashed out at the Congress leader on Thursday Rahul Gandhi to make baseless allegations against the prime minister Narendra Modi on the Adani issue, and described him as a “repeated offender” in making such allegations.

“If Rahul Gandhi really thinks that all these things (undue benefits) have been given to Adani, then it is not true,” Sitharaman said in response to questions at a press conference at the state BJP office here.

He said, ‘I also want to say that in the case of making baseless allegations against the Prime Minister, now he is becoming a criminal again and again. We saw that before 2019 elections, now he is doing it again. He does not learn any lesson from all these false allegations which he wants to level against the Prime Minister.”

Sitharaman also sought to know why Gandhi did not raise her voice against the undue benefits being given by the Kerala government to Adani and the company’s solar power project in Rajasthan.

“It was the (then) Congress government (in Kerala) which handed over the Vizhinjam port to Adani. It was not awarded on any tender basis. Now it is not the (Congress) government but the CPM government. But what stopped them from asking and demanding that Kerala rescind that order?” Sitharaman said.

The “entire solar power project” in Rajasthan (ruled by Congress) has been given to Adani. “What stops Rahul Gandhi?”
