Actor Vikas Sethi, known for his roles in popular 2000s TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Ghum and Kasautii Zindagi Kay, passed away on Sunday, September 8, at the age of 48. He is survived by his wife, Jhanvi Sethi, and their twin sons, born in 2021.
Vikas’ role as Robbie, Kareena Kapoor’s boyfriend in Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Ghum is memorable. In an old interview, the actor had talked about working with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan. He remembered how the whole team applauded him after his first shot. He had said, “Even though I was new, Kareena made me feel at home and comfortable. I still remember my first shot at Filmmalaya Studio. They all clapped and applauded after I gave my first shot.”
For those who don’t know, John Abraham was initially offered the role but turned it down. On Koffee With Karan, John explained that Karan repeatedly asked him to take the part, but he declined. John recalled saying, “I was like, ‘Karan, don’t mind, I really don’t want to do it.”
Meanwhile, Vikas Sethi’s wife Jhanvi Sethi opened up on his sudden demise. She said they were in Nashik for a family event when he started vomiting and experiencing diarrhea. He didn’t want to go to the hospital, so they called a doctor home. “After we reached my mother’s house in Nashik, he had vomiting and loose motions. He didn’t want to go to the hospital so we asked the doctor to come home,” she said. When she checked on him, he had already passed away. She added, “When I went to wake him up at around 6 am (on Sunday), he was no more. The doctor there told us he passed away last night in his sleep due to a cardiac arrest.” she said.
Vikas Sethi’s last rites were performed in Mumbai on Monday.
