While Harry attended the semi-finals of the 2007 Rugby World Cup in Paris, he walked through the same tunnel where his mother died 10 years earlier

Prince Harry’s autobiography ‘Spare’, to be released next week, was leaked on Thursday and key revelations from the book were made public.

The memoir taps into several controversies surrounding the British royal family where Harry wrote about his battle with a brother, the death of mother Diana and pleaded with father Charles not to marry the now-queen consort.

According to People magazine, which featured in the spare book, Prince Harry re-lived the final moments of his mother, Princess Diana, before her death.

While Harry attended the 2007 rugby World Cup semi-final in Paris, then he passed through the same tunnel where his mother died 10 years ago.

In the memoir, he recounts the intense pain he felt in his attempt to find closure.

“The World Cup provided me with a driver, and my first night in the City of Light I asked him if he knew the tunnel where my mother … I saw her eyes in the rear view, growing up. The tunnel is called Pont de l’Alma, I told him,” reads the excerpt.

Harry claimed that he asked the driver to drive through the tunnel at a speed of 65 mph, which was equivalent to the speed of Princess Diana’s car when it crashed.

“It was a very bad idea. I had a lot of bad ideas in my twenty-three years, but this one was distinctly ill-conceived,” he wrote in his memoir.

“I told myself I wanted closure, but I really didn’t. Deep down, I hoped to feel in the tunnel I felt when the JLP gave me the police file—distrust. Doubt. Instead, that was the night all doubt fell away. She’s dead, I thought. My God, she really is gone for good,” he said.

In the book, he has also told about the time he heard about his mother’s death.

He wrote that King Charles sat at the end of his bed at Balmoral Castle and said to him, “My dear son, mother has had a car accident.”

According to the Sun, the Duke claimed that his father did not hug him and that he later “felt like a politician” when he greeted members of the public in the wake of his death.
