AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday took a different approach to attack the central government over the Agneepath scheme of recruitment in India’s army, navy and air force. He said that this scheme will not solve the problem of unemployment in the country but will encourage it.
The Hyderabad MP tweeted a video of Haryana Police firing in the air in protest against the Agneepath scheme and wrote that the Center should neither identify these protesters by their clothes nor use bulldozers against them.
“Take back your wrong decision, 66% of the country’s population is young,” he said, “get it.”
In a follow-up tweet, the Muslim leader wrote, “This plan will not reduce unemployment but increase it. The issue of terrorism with Pakistan is not yet resolved, and on the other hand China has occupied our land. Our army There is no lab of your ‘scheme’ and ‘brain wave’. This scheme is not in the interest of the country.”
nationwide protests
The move has attracted defense job aspirants who have taken to the streets at many places across the country, especially in Bihar. At least three trains were torched in Bihar as protests against the Centre’s Agneepath recruitment scheme turned violent in Chhapra, Gopalganj and Kaimur districts on Thursday.
why are people protesting
Unlike western countries, where a similar model (Agneepath scheme) is followed, India ranks low in social security schemes. Under the newly introduced scheme in India, the jawans will be recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force for a period of four years. However, this would be followed by compulsory retirement for most without gratuity and pension benefits. Only 25% of the soldiers will be enrolled in the regular cadre. This is the biggest concern of the agitators. It is criminal to call upon our youth to be ready to make supreme sacrifice without minimum security of job security, the opposition said.
