Kartik Aaryan may be known for his charm and comic timing, but his playful side has occasionally led to some serious mishaps. Recently, his mother, Mala Tiwari, shared a story about Kartik’s childhood that left fans both amused and shocked. In an interview with Galatta India, she recounted the time when Kartik accidentally set his sister Kritika’s hair on fire during a curious experiment with a deodorant spray.
“Kartik was always very curious,” Mala began. “One day, he saw the flammable sign on a deodorant bottle and wanted to test if it would actually spray fire. He asked his sister Kittu to light a candle, and then sprayed the deodorant through the candle flame. Unfortunately, he sprayed too much, and Kittu’s hair caught fire. Luckily, they managed to put it out, but Kartik got a good scolding after that.”
Kartik himself chimed in, explaining that he didn’t mean any harm. “I didn’t mean to burn her hair,” he admitted with a laugh. “She was just in the wrong spot, and when the flames went up, one side of her hair caught fire. I immediately started throwing water on her. My mom was really angry at me after that.”
Kartik’s mother also shared another story during her appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, detailing his journey from a small town to Bollywood. She revealed that when Kartik was studying engineering in Mumbai, he would juggle his studies with acting auditions. “He would write parts of Pyaar Ka Punchnama’s script during his exams,” she recalled. “I remember he once drove us in his third-hand car from DY Patil University to his shoots. I’d sit with him, helping him study, saying, ‘Beta, yeh important hai, yeh important hai.’”
After years of hard work, Kartik has achieved tremendous success. His latest film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is a massive hit, grossing Rs 216.10 crore at the box office within two weeks. Starring alongside Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Triptii Dimri, Kartik reprises his role as Rooh Baba, a fake ghostbuster who encounters the spirit of Manjulika in a spooky mansion in Raktaghat.
