Malayalam filmmaker Alphons Puthren recently shared his experience of suffering from food poisoning after eating at a restaurant in Aluva in Kochi district. On Tuesday, January 3, the director shared an extensive post on Facebook and shared an incident that took place at the Kottayam-based restaurant, which was recently in news after a woman died due to suspected food poisoning. The video shows FYFI workers vandalizing a hotel named Malappuram Kuzhimandi at Sankranti in Kottayam. Now, Alphonse Putheren has asked food critics to shed some light on these issues.

In the long caption, Alphonse recalled how 15 years ago after consuming shawarma at a restaurant, he suffered severe pancreatitis pain and had to be hospitalised. He shared, “15 years ago, I had shawarma from a shop in Aluva. This was Sharaf Uddin’s treatment. I ate shawarma and mayonnaise in Akrantham. The next day I was having severe pain of pancreatitis and was admitted to Lakeshore Hospital and it cost my parents Rs 70,000 to save me. I was in a special section called MCU.

The Malayalam director also revealed that he was angry with his friend for this, but the real reason was contaminated food. “I was unnecessarily angry with Sharaf. The real reason was old contaminated food. Who is the real culprit here? Open your eyes and see the truth. Life is very expensive,” he said.

Alphons also mentioned that Justice Devan Ramachandran should take strict action against such restaurants. “There should be a new ministry for food security functioning from Kerala. Everyone should sell only clean, good food,” he said in the comments section of his post.

Meanwhile, the film Gold marks the much-awaited comeback of Alphonse Puthren after the blockbuster film Premam that released seven years ago. Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in lead roles, the film failed to perform at the box office. It is now available to stream Amazon Prime video.
