When BTS’ Jimin’ Lost Confidence in Her Singing and Jungkook, Suga Had Her Back

Being one of the biggest and most famous bands in the world comes with its own pressures, and nobody understands that better than BTS. The septet consisting of Jemin, J-Hope, RM, Jungkook, V, Suga and Jin has performed at multiple venues around the world with their concerts and achieved global fandom unprecedented for any South Korean band.

However, there are days when band members struggle to deliver their best performance. This was featured in BTS’s 2018 documentary Burn the Stage when singer Jimin confessed that he found his voice “failing”. In the documentary, viewers saw how the 25-year-old singer was not satisfied with his singing during one of the rehearsals. However, Jimin’s fellow members came to cheer him up and told him not to beat himself up for a minor mistake.

In the documentary, Jimin said, “I felt very, very bad. I get hypersensitive about it.” The body language of the singer reveals how low his confidence once he did not perform according to his expectations.

Seeing Jimin’s reaction, Suga reveals in the documentary that he felt bad for her. The music producer and rapper further shared Jimin’s history, saying, “I feel bad for Jimin, I always do. When he first came with us, he couldn’t sing, so he was on TV shows. He used to cry after. I think it disappointed him.”

BTS singer Jungkook, who is known for his impressive singing skills, also said that during his apprenticeship days, Jimin worked really hard. Jungkook described Jimin as “the hardest worker of all the trainees”. Jungkook also commented on Jimin’s progress from his apprentice days, saying, “If you hear him sing now, it’s changed a lot from before. I think he’s done a great job.”

The 24-year-old singer also shared how Jimin is always striving to hone his singing skills and seeks Jungkook’s feedback and critical comments on his singing. Praising Jimin’s voice, Jungkook mentioned in the documentary, “The way he sings is very different from the way I sing. I wish he could take advantage of his voice and sing better than his voice.”

Jimin has sung singles such as Filter, Serendipity and Lie for the BTS album and is well-liked by fans for his unique singing quality.
