Kal Ki Awaz was directed by Ravi Chopra and produced by BR Chopra. It was the first time that the father-son duo came together for the film. It starred Raj Babbar, Amrita Singh and Pratibha Sinha, apart from Dharmendra in the lead roles. According to reports, the first choice for this film was Pooja Bhatt. She was busy with other films at that time and could not give her time for this film. After Pooja refused, Pratibha Sinha – daughter of the 70s actress Mala Sinha – was signed.
Amrita Singh was at the peak of her career at that time. According to the media reports, Amrita was strict about her rules. She was one of the punctual actresses of that time. Pratibha Sinha was just the opposite. She had developed a habit of coming late on the sets of the film. Amrita often faced a lot of trouble due to her late arrival.
It resulted in a huge fight between Pratibha Sinha and Amrita Singh on the set on this issue. One day Pratibha reached very late. On this Amrita Singh reportedly yelled at her and said, “Is this the time to come?”. Pratibha Sinha felt insulted.
In such a situation, she went to the media with this story and gathered a lot of attention. It is also believed that this controversy affected the box office collection of the film. The music of the film is composed by the musician duo Nadeem-Shravan.
