New Delhi: Messaging app WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is working on additional features for Android, iOS and PC users. These features will enhance the quality of the chat experience and provide users with a more interactive platform. Some of these capabilities are already being rolled out to WhatsApp Beta Program subscribers.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is planning to launch a new community feature for group admins. This feature is expected to provide more control to group administrators. Administrators can use this capability to create groups within a group. Subgroups will also be end-to-end encrypted. This will be much the same as how many channels are organized within a Discord group.
New chat feature for group admins
WhatsApp is developing a new chat function for group admins that will allow them to delete messages submitted by other group members. The above feature will be included in future releases. With this future functionality, WhatsApp group manager will be able to delete the wrong message of anyone without their permission. Thanks to this feature, the admin will have better control over the group chat. When an administrator deletes a message in a group chat, users will see a notification that says ‘It was deleted by an administrator.’
2-Step Verification for WhatsApp Web/Desktop
WhatsApp is apparently going to implement two-step authentication for desktop and online users to enhance account security. The two-step verification function is an optional feature that protects users’ WhatsApp accounts from illegal access. When a user logs into their WhatsApp account, they will be required to enter a two-step verification PIN. At the moment, it is only available on the WhatsApp mobile app.
Message reactions like Instagram and Facebook Messenger
WhatsApp users will soon be able to receive messages similar to the reactions they get on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Users can reply to messages using this functionality. To use message response, users must first tap and hold the message they want to reply to, then drag their finger over the appropriate emoji. This feature allows users to see who replied to the incoming and outgoing messages in the group.

According to reports, WhatsApp is working on new animation emoji for Android and Apple iOS users. For the time being, the app only offers an animated red heart emoji to its users. When a user is sent a red heart emoji, it appears to be throbbing. According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the instant-messaging network is trying to bring dynamic effects to more emoji.
Find the shortcut in the Contact Information section
According to reports, the Meta-owned app is working on a new search feature for the contact information tab. The new search shortcut will be added next to the video call icon and will also appear in the group notification area. WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo discovered the new search message shortcut. Users will be able to search directly from the Info page of individual contacts and group conversations using this new Search Messages shortcut.
New interface for voice calls
WhatsApp will soon launch a new interface for group phone calls. During group calls, the platform is adding voice waveforms for all participants. Sound waves resemble the waves seen in sound notes. According to reports, the new interface will have a circular gray rectangular background with the contact’s name, phone and profile picture as well as the duration of the call.
Restrict people who can see your WhatsApp status
WhatsApp will introduce a new security feature that will allow users to control who can see their status updates. You can manage status privacy settings with this new WhatsApp shortcut. The new shortcut will allow users to specify which users will be allowed to read their status changes. According to WABetaInfo, tapping on ‘Status’ will show a new shortcut at the bottom of the screen.
Preview shared photos and videos as documents
WhatsApp intends to add a new preview option for documents shared in chat. Users will be able to preview videos and photos shared as documents in chat using the new feature. Currently, you cannot view a given image or video as a document without opening it first.
Share same photo/video at the same time in chat and status
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to share their WhatsApp status as well as media in a single window with individual chats or groups. Currently, if a WhatsApp user wants to share the same media file as a status update with multiple chats, they have to do it individually. With the feature, users will be able to share media in chat and status simultaneously.
