WhatsApp testing voice message recording feature for Android phones – Times of India

WhatsApp Recently introduced a new feature that allows iPhone users to pause and resume voice recording. Till now this feature was available for WhatsApp users on Apple iOS and Desktop. Now, the Facebook-owned platform is reportedly testing the feature Android users as well.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started rolling out a new beta update for Android users. After the update, Android users can also pause voice note recording on their smartphones.
How does the Pause feature work in Voice Message Recording?
As per the GIF shared by WABetaInfo, the feature on the Android platform will work similar to the iOS platform. After the latest beta update, Android users will be able to see a new pause button when they swipe up after pressing the recording button. Once paused, the same button will be used to resume recording. The new feature will be helpful in sharing long recordings and it will also save time for the users as they do not need to re-record the voice note in case of some interference.
The report further reveals that the feature is available only for a certain beta tester today and it is also available for whatsapp business Beta for Android. It is expected that the company will roll out this feature to more users with the upcoming updates.
The company also recently added a new search shortcut to that redesigned page for some Android beta testers. Search shortcut has been added next to the video call icon. According to the report, some users can also see the new shortcut in the Group Info section. The report further states that the shortcut is not working as it should. Since this feature is still in beta version, it is expected that the company can fix this problem in the upcoming beta update.
