What is the best time to eat fruits to get maximum benefits?

An apple a day keeps the doctor away is the most common saying. Eating fruits is undoubtedly a healthy habit that everyone should follow. Since fruits are packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants, doctors always recommend taking fruits as a source of nutrition. But nowadays, misinformation is being circulated online about nutrition and healthy eating.

Many of us wonder which fruits to eat and when. For example, some people believe in eating fruits on an empty stomach in the morning, while some people like to eat them after meals.

So, what is the right time to eat fruit?

In his recent Instagram reel video, Lifestyle Physician Dr Achuthan Easwar shared that fruits can be eaten at any time of the day, as a snack, or as a meal etc.

He recommends eating fruits before every meal. In other words, to explain the “eat more, weigh less” strategy, he said that the process will fill you up and also benefit you in consuming fewer calories.

Dr. Ishwar also highlighted with the title “Two things matter”.

  1. Number of fruits:
Doctors describe that eating less than three fruits can put you at risk of chronic diseases like stroke and many other health problems. Conversely, there is no added benefit if you eat more than three fruits in a day.
  2. Eating fruits throughout the day:
Also he said that morning fruits keep you healthy during that time only. But, your antioxidant status may drop by evening.

“If you’re new to a plant-based diet, here’s a super simple tip — start each meal with one or two fruits. It instantly makes every meal healthier,” he explained.

Specifically, he advised that you can also go for fruit salads, smoothies, date syrup, dry fruit garnishes, dry fruit laddus, jackfruit kadubu, pineapple gojju and apple pie. “Fruits are one of the healthiest foods for you,” he concluded.
