India vs Sri Lanka cricket matches have always had a special attraction and whenever the two sides face off, it brings out the best of individuals as the fans have seen so far. The last time India faced their southern neighbors was in Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017 for a three-match Test series, a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. The struggles were memorable as out of the three Test matches played, India won one Test while the other two were drawn. In white-ball cricket, India won the ODI series 2–1 and clean sweep the T20I series 3–0.

Renewing their rivalry once again, India are set to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Sri Lanka. Relishing the memories between the two sides, fans surely remember the time when ‘hit-man’ Rohit Sharma went explosive and hammered the Lankans left, right and centre. In the second ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on December 13, 2017, fans in attendance witnessed complete carnage.

On the batting surface, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first, winning the first ODI in case of low scoring. However, the decision backfired as the Sri Lankans and fans in attendance saw Rohit cursing the bowlers across the ground. The ‘hit-man’ scored 208 runs in 153 balls with the help of 13 fours and 12 sixes in Mohali. Shikhar Dhawan (68) and Shreyas Iyer (88) scored helpful runs but Rohit took the responsibility of making sure India got all the runs they could. With Rohit scoring his third ODI double century, India posted a mammoth total of 392/4 in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka tried to fight back as Angelo Mathews scored a century to keep Lanka’s hopes alive but a clinical and disciplined Indian side kept their neighbors in trouble all the time. Yuzvendra Chahal’s 3/66 and Jasprit Bumrah 2/43 helped India win the match by 141 runs. After two thrilling and thrilling matches with the series being leveled at 1-1, the ODI series decider saw the partners in offense, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Jadoo.

In the chase, while Rohit was dismissed for 7, Dhawan played the role and scored a century off 85 balls. Iyer stepped up with the required runs, scoring 65 before being dismissed once again. India won the match by 8 wickets and went on to win the ODI series 2–1.
