West Indies vs South Africa, 1st Test Day 5 LIVE:

Hello and welcome to our coverage of Day 5 of the first Test between the West Indies and South Africa taking place at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

South Africa are in pole position ahead of the final day of the Test and they would want to go on and get the win if possible. The fourth day saw only 30 overs of cricket being played and the visitors will hope that they can squeeze in as much time as possible to ensure that they can bowl out the Windies side.

With a lead of 154, the South African opening duo of Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi will hope to get started and score some quick runs so that their bowlers have enough time to get all 10 wickets.

West Indies’ batting unit will have a lot to ponder on if they do come out to bat. They have been wasteful by giving away soft dismissals and have not been able to make the South African bowlers work hard for their wickets. Still, they do have a chance of sneaking in a draw so they would be required to put in their best batting effort to help share the spoils.

With the rain that was in effect yesterday, Keshav Maharaj might not have much to do with the overcast conditions. So the onus will be on Kagiso Rabada to once again showcase his class and lead the bowling attack. Lungi Ngidi has shown to be a fine bowler to hold things from the other end, but the pair would have to put in a massive shift should South Africa take home the win.
