West Bengal Governor raises questions on consultant recruitment process in the state

Highlight

  • Dhankhar alleges malpractices in the selection process of consultants
  • Recruitment in certain categories already under judicial scrutiny

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has questioned the recruitment process of consultants in the state.

“No reply to @MamataOfficial on December 28 communication regarding recruitment of consultants, reinforces the widespread perception of extension of bias,” he tweeted on Monday morning. The mechanism is opaque, transparent under Article 16 of the Constitution. And far from being accountable.”

He had alleged irregularities in the selection process of consultants in various government departments of the state. Several issues were raised regarding the lack of transparency, accountability and modalities of the selection process of these consultants. Recruitment in certain categories is already under judicial scrutiny.
