‘Well played, Marnus!’: Labuschagne praises himself after ducking bouncer, leaves commentators in splits – watch

Marnus Labuschagne has been in excellent form in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22 series. After scoring a valuable 74 in the first innings of the Brisbane Test, he made his 6thth Test century in Adelaide on Thursday. His knock of 103 was studded with 8 fours but surprisingly, it proved to be his slowest century in the longest format of the game so far.

Despite being one of the finest strikers of the cricket ball, he is one of the most interesting characters on the field. There is hardly a dull moment when he is around. Recently, when he released the ball, he made his fans happy with loud slogans of ‘No Run’. On Wednesday, he found another way to divide the audience.

During the 36th over of Australia’s first innings, England all-rounder Ben Stokes bowled a bouncer while Labuschagne got a complete duck. At the same time, the right-hander applauded himself and said, “Well played Marnus!”.

His voice was clearly heard from the mic of the stump, on which the commentators laughed a lot.

Labuschagne’s luck was on his side while batting against England on Wednesday. At the end of the day’s play, Jos Buttler dismissed him for 95 runs off James Anderson.

“Some prayers happened there because I don’t know how it happened. There’s a little bit of disbelief – it’s my job to capitalize on it now, I give him a chance… I have to make sure there’s no chance tomorrow,” Labuschagne said at Butler’s drop.
