We’ll Ensure No One Stays Hungry In Flood-hit Areas: Cm | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday assured people in the flood-hit areas of east UP that during this challenging time, the double engine government was standing with them to ensure that nobody stayed empty stomach.
The CM’s assurance came after he conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas of Ghazipur and Chandauli districts before visiting the marooned low-lying areas in Ganga upstream by NDRF boat in Varanasi late afternoon.
Following an aerial survey of flood-hit areas of Ghazipur, the CM’s chopper landed in Mohammadabad, where he distributed relief material among the people staying in flood relief camps.
He also addressed a gathering at Asht Shahid Inter College at Mohammadabad where he assured that the governments at the Centre and in state were standing with the people during this challenging time. “We will ensure all possible help. The administration in each flood-hit district has been asked to ensure that affected people receive relief material like ration and other food items for 15 days,” he said.
The CM further stated that this year, the state has received deficient rain. “The problem of flood is being faced in the state mainly due to release of water from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh,” he said, mentioning that Rajasthan released 26 lakh cusecs water while 4 lakh cusecs water was discharged from MP, which led to flooding in rivers Yamuna and Ganga.
“However, compared to last year, less area has been marooned this time,” he said. “So far, 1,100 villages in the state have been hit by floods. Around 7,000 people of 33 villages have been affected in Ghazipur. The losses to farmers are also being estimated. Many ministers are taking stock of the flood areas in Etawah, Jalaun and other districts,” he added.
Later, he reached Varanasi where his chopper landed at BHU helipad. The CM along with UP Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh reached Asi Ghat and boarded a NDRF rescue boat. The CM took stock of the marooned areas of Samneghat, including Maruti Nagar, in Ganga up stream and sought details of the on-going flood relief operations from district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma.
Later, he returned to Asi Ghat and reached Goenka Sanskrit Vidyalaya to meet the people especially children in flood relief camps and distribute bread, biscuits, other food items and also chocolates among them.
From there, the CM reached Kashi Vishwanath Temple by road where he offered prayer at the sanctum sanctorum of KV temple. He also met the veterans staying in the newly opened Mumukshu Bhawan (hospice) of KV Dham and distributed books and shawls among them. Before leaving KV Dham, he reached Ganga Dwar at Jalasen Ghat to see the flooded Ganga.
Subsequently, the CM held a meeting with the officials at the circuit house and reviewed the progress in flood relief operations. He asked the officials to ensure proper availability of food, health facilities and security to the people in flood-hit areas and also gear up preparations for post-flood challenges.
