Mumbai Indians (MI) are yet to register a win in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). So far, they have lost two games in a row and are in the bottom half of the points table with zero wins. Saturday’s 7-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has left the five-time champions with many questions to answer before going into their next match.

One of the major concerns for MI at the moment is the form of Suryakumar Yadav. Known for his antics in the shortest format of the game, Surya has not lived up to his potential. On Saturday, he scored just one run before Dhoni took a sharp catch behind the stumps which led to his early dismissal at his home ground – Wankhede.

During the post-match presser, MI head coach Mark Boucher addressed the matter saying that he did not want to put too much pressure on him.

“Surya is an extremely talented cricketer, one of the best T20 cricketers in the world, if not the best. He hasn’t had loads of runs in the recent past but he is a fantastic player. Hope he can come good for us in the near future. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him. We all know what he can do. Its just a game of cricket. Sometimes you go through small patches where you struggle for form,” said Boucher.

The Mumbai Indians head coach further said that the team management will continue to back Surya and also help him get back to scoring ways.

“We will back him and try to offer him some new challenges to take his mind off his game, if that helps him find some good form in the middle and end stages of the tournament,” he added.

Rohit Sharma & Co. were completely dominating the CSK bowlers in the 1000th match of IPL history. Ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took 3/20 in four overs while Mitchell Santner (2/28) and Tushar Deshpande (2/31) made notable contributions as CSK restricted MI to 157/8. In response, Ajinkya Rahane hit the fastest half-century of the season, helping the Super Kings win the contest.
