Weekend of US gun violence saw at least 82 shots fired in Chicago, Philly and NYC

America has endured another bloody weekend of gun violence, with at least 82 people being shot and killed in Chicago, Philadelphia and NYC alone.

Chicago was worst affected from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, with at least 52 shootings recorded, and five people dead, including a 7-year-old girl.

Philadelphia saw 11 shootouts, and resulted in five casualties, while 16 people were shot. New York City Single, during a two-hour period.

Eight of them were killed in the same incident at a housing complex in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. This happened after three people were shot dead in New York on Saturday.

In Chicago, a seven-year-old girl sitting in the back of a parked car died during the city’s latest orgy, while her six-year-old sister also sustained a lung injury after being shot.

The two were on their way out of their maternal grandfather’s house to meet Regina, who, upon hearing about the shooting, rushed to the hospital and found that Serenity had died.

‘She was getting into the car coming from her grandmother’s house and lost her life at that very moment. I mean, it’s just absurd,’ she told CBS 2.

‘And you know, someone must come forward and say something. Someone must come forward and help the family, and help us – because it was not meant to be with him. This should not have happened to him. She was innocent. She was 7 years old. His birthday was about to come in November.

Until Sunday, she said, Aubrey didn’t know her sister had died.

Regina said both the parents were at the scene and their son was on the driver’s side of the car. Her mother had just put Aubrey in the back seat.

Grandma said, ‘The other sister was already sitting in her car seat with the button pressed, and my son said he held her – and she was just lifeless.’

Regina mentioned that she was scheduled to go to South Carolina with the girls for a trip to Myrtle Beach on Tuesday. He said this would have been the first visit to Serenity by an aircraft.

‘How do you prepare yourself for something like this?’ he said. ‘She was a beautiful child. His soul was beautiful. Everything about him was flawless.’

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Brian McDermott said the girls were not believed to be the intended targets, and their deaths were under investigation.

To say that I am sad and angry would be an understatement. I can only hope that every resident of the city is as angry, sad and outraged as it is at this time,’ he said during a press conference on Sunday evening.
