‘We Will Be Very Open to Hosting Matches’: Australia Look to Host Series With India and Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja in January proposed an annual four-nation T20 series involving Pakistan, India, Australia and England, which would be organized in turn by the participating country.

Expressing his opinion on the proposed concept, Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley has said that they would be prepared to host Asian arch-rivals Pakistan and India in a series, to revive a competition that world cricket wants to see. Is.

As reported by Reuters, Hockley said his board has not discussed the proposal but is ready to host Pakistan and India in a tri-series.

“Personally, I really like the concept of the tri-series. It has worked well in the past,” he told reporters in Rawalpindi, where Australia and Pakistan drew the first Test in the 3-match series.

“We are very open to hosting matches. Australia is actually home to large communities of both India and Pakistan. This is a competition that everyone wants to see in world cricket and if we can help support the opportunities ahead, we would love to do that.”

Ever since both the countries started playing against each other, India vs Pakistan cricket matches are much awaited. Currently, their on-field rivalry is confined to ICC events and the Asia Cup due to the strained relationship between them.

Although such a multi-nation series would be unlikely in the short to medium term, the Future Tour programme, the ICC’s international programme, has been mapped to 2023. Pakistan and India are scheduled to play each other. ICC sanctioned T20 World Cup in Australia in October.

Hockley said the 23 October match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was already sold out.
