The exam took place at various places in the state of West Bengal. Each subject had an exam of three hours duration, in which students were given 15 minutes to go through the question paper. Students must score a minimum of 34 per cent or 272 marks to pass the West Bengal Class 10 board exam, which consists of a total of 800 marks.

This year, a particular question on the Secondary History exam paper has created a buzz on social media. In the question, candidates were asked to write an explanatory essay on one of the three options related to Mahatma Gandhi’s stand on the labor movement in India. The options presented were whether Mahatma Gandhi always represented the mill owners’ lobby, whether he aimed to avoid confrontation between labor and capital, and whether he was concerned about the impact of the movement on law and order.

In 2022, the pass percentage for the Secondary Examination, or WBBSE 10th Board Exam, was 86.60 per cent. This marked a decline from 2021 when 100 per cent students passed the exam. In 2020, the pass percentage was recorded at 86.34 per cent, while it was a higher 88.87 per cent in 2019.

Moreover, last year boys had outperformed girls in the West Bengal Secondary Class 10 exams. A total of 88.59 per cent boys passed the exam, while 85 per cent girls secured the qualifying grade.
