Nashik: Latest Figures covid-19 vaccination This shows that the coverage in five districts of northern Maharashtra is much lower than the state average.
As of November 17, the state average for first dose vaccination is over 76% and it is around 39% for second dose. In Nashik, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar districts immunization is much less than this. Actually, Nandurbar has been placed at the lowest rank in the state.
Nandurbar District Health Officer Dr Mahendra Chavan said they were hopeful that the door-to-door drive would improve vaccine coverage. “We are aiming to vaccinate 70% of the beneficiaries with at least the first dose by the end of this month,” he said. Area health officials have blamed ‘vaccine hesitation’ for the low coverage. In Nashik city, health department officials said some pocket beneficiaries are still unwilling to take the vaccine. In Nashik district, a large population of Malegaon is yet to take its first dose.
Dhule’s Covid-19 coordinator, Dr Vishal Patil said that people are not coming forward to take their shots as the cases have reduced and things are back to normal.
