Water level dropped in Mettur dam. Coimbatore News – Times of India

Salem: After maintaining its full capacity of 120 feet for 41 days, the water level in the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur in Salem district fell to 119.04 feet on Saturday.
Officials of the Public Works Department said the water level dropped to 119.64 feet on Friday and later fell further on Saturday as the water flow from the dam remained at the same level even though it had receded.
A PWD official said the water flow has come down from 6,000 cusecs to 4,424 cusecs in the last two days.
As per the recent directive of the state government, the PWD was releasing 10,000 cusecs of water from the dam to irrigate the delta districts. “We have increased it to 15,000 cusecs from Friday evening,” the official said.
The dam reached its full capacity on 13 November.
