WATCH | ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ Trailer Out Now

The long awaited trailer of ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ starring Prabhas has finally released. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film is an action-packed drama which has been in production over two years now. The film marks the Telugu debut of Malayalam star Prithviraj. Shruti Haasan, Jagapati Babu, among others.

The production company, Hombale Films had released the teaser of the film in in July, which gave us the sneak peek into Salaar’s world. Through the teaser, the audience got to know that there is a second part to Salaar because the film is called ‘Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire.’

Recently, while promoting the film, Prashanth Neel revealed how the idea of Salaar originated in his mind. He said, “The idea of making Saalar had come to my mind 15 years ago, but after making my first film Ugram, I got busy with KGF which took me almost 8 years to make. That is, we first started planning KGF and by the time its second part was released 8 years had passed. In this way, the idea of making this film was already in my mind and during Covid, when KGF 2 was not released, we all had a lot of time because we were all sitting at home. So I worked on it a little.”

The trailer takes us to the fictional city of Khansaar, which is invaded and described as “more dangerous than Mahmud of Ghazni and Genghis Khan.” Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character is the heir apparent of the city, but only till the invaders attack and take charge forcefully.

Prithviraj then summons his childhood friend Deva (played by Prabhas), who had promised him to always protect him and his people. Deva then returns to Khansaar in order to reclaim the throne and avenge his best friend.

Salaar is slated to hit the theatres on December 22, just a day after the release of Shah Rukh Khan‘s Dunki and will face strong competition at the box office. It will release in cinemas in 5 languages – Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi
