Rohit Sharma lets his emotions flow after India lifts the T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma ecstatically went down on his knees, slapped on the ground in jubilation, and shouted out loud before lying down on the field with tears in his eyes.
Emotions were galore at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown when India defeated South Africa by 7 runs to become the new T20 World Champions. The triumph ended India’s decade-long drought for an ICC title as the men in blue lifted the coveted silverware in the shortest format after 17 long years. Also, Rohit Sharma becomes only the second Indian captain after legendary MS Dhoni to lead India to a T20 World title win and also the only Indian player to be a part of two ICC title-winning teams.

Vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who came into the tournament after facing too much criticism from the fans during the IPL, turned out to be the ultimate game-changer by defending 16 off the last 6 balls. Not only did he restrict the Proteas from getting over the line, but he picked up a couple of wickets as well to justify his existence in the Indian team.
It was a silent celebration from the Indians after winning the big game. Pandya, after bowling the final ball, just lay down on the pitch. “We’ve been working very hard and something was not clicking. But today we got what the whole nation wanted. More special for me is how my last 6 months were, I haven’t spoken a word. I knew that if I kept working hard I could shine and do what I could do. Getting an opportunity like this makes it more special. We always believed it was just about executing our plans and staying calm and letting the pressure come to them,” Hardik Pandya told the broadcasters.
