Scotland will take on Oman in their last group match on Thursday, 21 October

Richie Berrington was named player of the match as Scotland beat Papua New Guinea by 17 runs at Al Amarat Cricket Ground on Tuesday in the fifth match of ICC Men’s Round 1 t20 world cup. Batting first on the basis of the Berrington Master Class, Scotland scored 165 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Berrington scored 70 runs in 49 balls for his side. The 34-year-old’s innings had six fours and three sixes.

Having guided his side to a respectable total, Berrington was also excellent for his team on the field. He even took a brilliant one-handed catch in the sixth over of the match off Josh Davey to remove Simon Atai from the attack.

The video of Berrington’s catch was shared on the official Instagram handle of the International Cricket Council. ICC captioned the clip on the Facebook-owned platform, “Richie Berrington, not satisfied with just impressing with the bat, decides to give us a masterclass on the field as well.”

The video begins with Atai taking his position at the crease before facing the last ball of the over. Davey bowls a fuller outside off-stump and Atai tries to cut it but is caught by Berrington.

Meanwhile, chasing 166 for victory, Papua New Guinea managed just 148 runs before being bowled out in 19.3 overs. Davy ended the match with four wickets.

With this win, Scotland have consolidated their position at the top of the table with four points while PNG have been knocked out of the tournament.

They next face Oman in their last group match on Thursday, 21 October. The match between Scotland and Oman will be hosted by Al Amrat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) and will start at 07:30 PM (IST).
