BCCI shared a video of Indian players celebrating Rahul Dravid’s birthday ahead of India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI in Kolkata.

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday, January 11, on the eve of India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka.

Both the teams reached Kolkata after a short flight from Guwahati and the official Twitter handle of BCCI shared a video of Indian players celebrating Dravid’s birthday.

As all the Indian players clapped while Dravid cut the cake, Ishan Kishan almost spoiled the party as he accidentally pushed a suitcase nearby, which almost hit the table on which the cake was placed.

In the video shared by the BCCI, the entire Indian contingent reached their team hotel and celebrated their head coach’s birthday.

It was in the ‘City of Joy’ where Dravid forged the iconic partnership with VVX Laxman that helped the team India Defeated Australia on home soil in 2001.

While ‘The Wall of India’ would undoubtedly have memories of Kolkata, his birthday celebration was almost spoiled by Kishan who sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in a jovial mood along with the rest of his teammates.

The Indian youngster accidentally hit a suitcase kept nearby, sending the contents flying towards the table on which the cake was placed, but an alert KL Rahul saved the day.

Meanwhile, Dravid and his teammates would be hoping to wrap up the ODI series after registering a stunning 67-run win over Sri Lanka at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Rohit Sharma’s side took a 1-0 lead in the series as the skipper shone with the bat, and Virat Kohli won the player of the match award as he hit his 45th ODI century in Guwahati.

Shubman Gill also contributed 70 runs, helping India post a mammoth 373/7 in 50 overs, in reply to which Dasun Shanaka’s men could only manage 306/8 in their respective 50 overs.

The captain himself scored a century, but the required target of 374 proved too steep a climb to climb.
